More interesting and with greater political intrigue than previous seasons. Still has some issues with direction and an abundance of seemingly unnecessary details.
While I really liked the premise, I feel the execution fell short on all fronts. Lackluster animation, characters, and dialogue led me to literally fall asleep during the final battles.
In the "Military vehicles as Anime Girls" competition, fighter jets come dead last behind battleships and tanks. This felt like an adaptation of a very mediocre visual novel that relied wholly on tropes.
While it's literally the same plot as the series, the action and animation are improved (though some action is as believable as a Fast and Furious movie). It has a vibe of watching an eSports match, just with very Moe anime girls.
Strategic Naval Warfare meets A.I. Becoming Too Human Psychological Exploration. Yes, the ships are waifus.
Everything good from the series and then some. Better pacing, better action, more of the introspection and question asking.
Stellar military piece with fascinating philosophical aspects. Makes you inspect your stance on national policy, patriotism, war, social Darwinism, and capitalism.
