Premise: Sometime after the 63rd Sensha-do (Tankery) tournament, the ministry of education proceeds with its plan to decommission Ooarai High School despite their recent triumph in the championship. This time with the agreement in writing, the department agrees to keep it open if the school can win against a professional University team. Miho and the others will need to call in some help from other schools if they’re to win the match and save Ooarai.
TheAwersome’s Thoughts: This is about what you’d expect/want from a movie in the Girls und Panzer realm. The plot is nothing special (literally the same as the series, just, again) and overarching strategies aren’t too different from the usual (start out in the fields, move to the cities when things get hairy) but it manages to be a good fun time regardless. Animation and detail are greatly improved for the tank battles themselves, and the matches are a delight to watch, with an appropriate amount of comedy interspersed throughout. The action gets particularly rewarding (albeit no more believable than a Fast and Furious movie) in the final quarter of the movie, so I wouldn’t say to pass on this, especially since it’s now available on good ol’ mainstream Netflix.
TLDR: If you watch any eSports you’ll like this; it’s got the same vibe, just with Moe girls.
