2018-2019 Top 10

Here are the Top 10 Anime that had a strong impact on me or that I simply enjoyed the most from July 2018-July 2019. Order is flexible.

10. Saga of Tanya the Evil

I only just recently finished watching this and it was SO much better and different than expected.

9. Fate/Zero

If you want action that doesn’t come with shonen tropes but rather Game of Thrones flavored intrigue and strategy, this is the show.

8. Food Wars! (Shokugeki no Soma)

Equal parts amazing cooking show and passionate shonen. (Harbour’s Favorite)

7. Darling in the FranXX

Gripping action, romance, and drama that wouldn’t get off my mind for a long time.

6. Cowboy Bebop

This piece feels honestly like what happens when artists get to do what they want. Relaxed, fun, intense, lighthearted, heavy, and overall, beautiful.

5. Sword Art Online

Let the weeb hivemind rage. The few episodes by the lake made me re-evaluate my life goals and motivations. The final arc of Season II hit me like only Violet Evergarden and Pixar have. I’ve watched Seasons 1-2 twice.

4. Your Name

I watched this from the library, and then bought it right afterward because it is pure, human, magical, and leaves you extremely satisfied.

3. Toradora!

I never expected a Romcom to make it to my top 10 list of anything, to be honest. But the endearing and sincere charm of this piece can’t be ignored. I’ve watched a good handful of shojo, romcom, and slice of life, but this one feels like family.

2. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

This show takes second only to DDLC for being a psychological artistic masterpiece. I’ve also watched all of this twice (if you count watching the movies).

1. Violet Evergarden

I really shot myself in the foot by watching this one so early on in my anime journey because it is so tremendously beautiful. Already has a review, so I won’t say too much more on it. I’ve watched all of it twice
