A gorgeous and fresh experience with masterfully crafted music and visuals and strong emotional elements.
The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyoukai)
For having the same writer, composer, and animation studio that brings us Fate/Zero and the Heaven's Feel movies, Garden of Sinners has stellar animation and music for a boring, unconvincing story.
Serial Experiments Lain
The unsettling lovechild of The Matrix and Donnie Darko (yet predecessor of both), Lain is an existential ride that is hauntingly more relevant today than when it aired 22 years ago.
Zoku Owarimonogatari
A good wrap-up for some lingering characters while being a fitting inclusion to the series.
Owarimonogatari (2nd Season)
A great wrap-up for the series ... satisfyingly rooted in a sense of reality and introspection the way a good spiritual supernatural story should be.
Koyomimonogatari
Mostly an OVA collection of half-episodes, except there are a few plot-critical episodes, specifically near the end. A nice breather before diving into the final seasons.
Kizumonogatari Trilogy
Despite (or perhaps due to) being a completely different vibe and style from the rest of the Monogatari series, this is hands down my favorite.
Owarimonogatari (1st Season)
Solid Monogatari with added mystery and great character-digging dialogue.
Sword Oratoria: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? -On the Side-
More interesting and classic RPG fantasy vibe than the original series, but more fan-service and not quite as much charm/heart.
Tsukimonogatari
Not bad for progress of overarching plot, but awkward ecchincest is back.
