Sequel movie to Season 2 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Genre(s): Isekai, Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, Drama
Age-Appropriateness: 13+ (Violence, Suggestive themes, Profanity)

TheAwersome’s Rating: 7.7 / 10 (Feels like a long episode)
Premise: In Raja, a small country located to the west of Tempest. Rimuru and his companions get involved in a long-running conspiracy that swirls around the mysterious power of the queen. Rimuru and his commander Benimaru also encounter another ogre survivor named Hiiro, a man that used to be the brother of Benimaru.
TheAwersome’s Thoughts: If you’ve really been enjoying the late trend of anime movies being truly canon and feeling like they are important to the series, you might be a bit disappointed here. This truly felt like an anime movie of the past where it’s just kind of some bonus stuff. That being said, it certainly isn’t bad. We get some quality ogre family bonding and stories, and perhaps most satisfying for me, more lore, character exploration, and action sequences of Diablo and the Primordial Demons. The villains unfortunately felt more like the flat, caricature “Evil villain” that didn’t live up to the complexity of previous antagonists in the series.
I really liked the worldbuilding of the Kingdom of Raja though: interesting, fresh design that felt satisfyingly fleshed out.
TLDR: Fantastic animation and some fun new lore tidbits, but didn’t quite feel worthy of “Being a Movie.”
Chronology – This takes place after the events of, and contains spoilers for, Season 2.
A “side project” has been announced as the next Slime project.
