Premise: While looking for a place to study, Haruhi Fujioka accidentally stumbles upon her prestigious High School’s “Host Club,” where six male students gather to entertain female “clients” with sweets, tea, and charming conversation. Upon accidentally breaking an antique vase worth 8,000,000 yen (roughly $80,000) the only way to pay off her debt to the host club is to become a host herself. The fact that she’s a girl, however, is to be kept a secret from the clients.
TheAwersome’s Thoughts: This here is white I call a good “snack” show, meaning that there isn’t a whole lot of substance to it, but it’s a great time consuming it. Animation and backgrounds are so-so, but the humor is very good. This is a tropey Shoujo anime and it knows it, frequently breaking the 4th wall and referencing how tropey and unrealistic it is: “This anime is OBVIOUSLY a romantic-school-comedy, and since I’m one of the main characters, that means you all are the supporting cast, so don’t interfere with my plans!” “Sorry, our group already has an overly cute boy-loli character, I don’t see how you could contribute.” (Actual quotes).
TLDR: If you’re looking for a break from seriousness, being enticed to binge, and just want something light-hearted and fun, be sure to give it a watch!
