Premise: A Tyrannosaurus called Heart was raised by an herbivorous dinosaur. As he grew up, he was scared by other carnivorous dinosaurs before learning he was one himself. One day, Heart meets a baby Ankylosaurus and he names the baby “Umasou (looks delicious)”. Umasou started to be attached to Heart and a strange family love develops between the two.

TheAwersome’s Thoughts: While this is definitely designed as a movie for children, there’s a good amount of that solid love put into it that doesn’t make it feel patronizing or pandering. Character design is very simplistic as it is based on a picture book, but it doesn’t lack in animation. You Are Umasou manages to really get into your heartstrings and make you feel a lot of emotions and is overall a very sweet story. The direction is very good and there’s a lot of storytelling that happens in subtext that is excellently done.

TLDR: A very cute, sweet, and emotional movie for all ages.
